Get back on your feet after knee replacement.
Surgery replaces the joint. Physical therapy restores the bend, the strength and the confidence to walk, climb stairs and get in and out of the car. We pick up where discharge instructions leave off and follow your surgeon's protocol.

Common questions.
Can I do physical therapy after knee replacement without going to a clinic?
Yes. In San Mateo, Santa Clara and Alameda counties, your care combines in-home and virtual visits. Anywhere else in California, visits are virtual. Your physical therapist sets the mix at your initial evaluation, following your surgeon's protocol.
Do you follow my surgeon's protocol?
Yes. Post-surgical rehab follows your surgeon's protocol and precautions, and we keep your surgeon's office updated on your progress. If your surgeon gave you written instructions, share them with us at your first visit.
Does Medicare cover physical therapy after knee replacement?
Yes, for eligible patients. Nurtura is in-network with Medicare Part B, and Medicare Part B covers both in-home and virtual visits. Paying privately? Call us at (408) 372-6048 for options.
Do I need a prescription or referral to start physical therapy?
No. In California you can start physical therapy without a referral. We coordinate with your physician on your care plan, and if you're on Medicare, we get your physician's sign-off on the plan of care as Medicare requires.
